Hello! :D

My name is Dave (the 'HippyDave' thing is a nickname I've carried with me since high school, as I tend to wear my hair long. Gets more and more difficult to pull off with every passing year, mind!), and I'm a Baebe-aholic.

I live in Evesham, Worcestershire, with my Better Half Christine and our psychotic cat Maya. During the day I'm an MIS (Management Information Systems) Administrator for the local college - basically student records, government returns and all that dull stuff. When I'm not at work, though, it's mostly all about music, and lots of it. I've invariably got music playing wherever I am, and I love nothing better than a live show. I spend a great deal of time helping to promote unsigned bands and have been busily creating/moderating forums and maintaining online networking pages for several bands. Ask me about it sometime - I'd be happy to bore you with it all!

I also love to read (sci-fi, 'actual' science and horror preferred, but I'll give anything a try), to write (I'm working on-and-off on a couple of things, one of which is my first full-length novel, Hunter's Moon, though that's been ongoing for few years already - I have motivational problems with writing and go months without doing anything to it, then write 10,000 words or more in a weekend), and I love astronomy, real ales, indian food and a good film, not necessarily in that order.

I've been meaning to join up here for ages now, but have finally got around to it (there's that motivational thing again - probably not helped by the number of forums I either frequent or am actually responsible for!). I've been a fan of the Baebes since the release of Worldes Blysse back in 1998, and have been along for the ride ever since, picking up some wonderful additional music since via the various other side and solo projects of the various members past and present (and, no doubt, future).

Despite having been a fan for so long, though, I've actually only seen the Baebes live once! For shame...

Looking forward to getting to know everyone a little better, and to share this great music with like-minded folks... :D

Hippy Dave, Welcome & Greetings from Dorset. Hope you get to at least a couple of gigs during the course of the year. Have you ordered your copy of the Gloucester Cathedral Concert DVD yet??
Cheers,
:D

Fingers crossed - I'm hoping to get to the Stables gig in May, so that'll be a good start... :D

Welcome Hippy Dave. I've got a buddy named Surfer Dave. He knows the tides and water temperatures for all of the South Carolina beaches and we live 110 miles inland. I just saw the Baebes once recently in Charlotte, NC. That changed me from a casual Baebes abuser into a Chronic to Acute Baebaholic. And I have no intention of quitting!!

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum Dave :D
Shame you havent been able to make it to more gigs - plenty of Baebe action in this neck of the woods (not far from Evesham!) including Tewkesbury, Gloucester and the greatly missed Joust at Berkeley.

Hope you can make it to some this year.....am keeping many fingers crossed for another Gloucester Cathedral gig

Ah, glad to hear it. Well, it can't be any spikier than the subset of the Epica forum that decided I had "no online ethics" this week...

Thanks again for the warm welcome, ladies and, er, potential gentlemen (hard to tell from the user names!)!

Lady Sparkles: Yeah, Worcs/Glos is indeed a hotbed of Baebe activity - which just makes me all the more ashamed! I very nearly made it to Gloucester in December, but was foiled at the eleventh hour. I can't tell you how happy I am about the DVD! :D

... is it too late to get that on the Glos DVD bonus tracks?

... and Sarah. Why the simple parts? You seem like one of the most complex and deep minded users on the forum?

Yeah, but I can't sing or play any musical instruments. I can do a burlesque fan-dance however.....
