We are just about to start choosing the songs that will go on the new album so it would be interesting to know what your favourite Baebes album is so far?

Very tough decision, but I voted Worldes Blysse with Mirabilis coming in a close second.

In terms of straight up musical preference, Mirabilis would have beat out Worldes Blysse, but most of my Baebes-related memories are attached to the WB album or songs from it in some way, so that nostalgia gave it the edge to be a general favorite.

I like all the albums but the choice of the best one was still very easy for me. I voted for Worldes Blysse.

This is a very hard one (No giggling Sarah and Kate!!!)

As cliched as it sounds, I love all the Baebes albums and could quite happily listen to any of them any day of the week....

Salva Nos has a quiet, wintry evening feel to it, its easy on the ear and a delight to listen to when you want a chill out.

Worldes Blysse is the above with a bit more feeling, the added instrumentation really adds to the ethereal feel of the album, its what i'd call a 'candlelight' album.

Undrentide is the complete opposite of the above two albums, its produced sound and its summery feel show a different side to the Baebes music.

The Rose is a very lush album, almalgamating the original earthy sound of Worldes Blysse, with some of the produced sound of Undrentide, this had often been labelled as a Baebes and fans fave, and for good reason.

Mistletoe & Wine combines some of the best songs from the first four albums along with some new songs and some tweekings of a few classics.

Mirabilis was a huge step forward in terms of the music, its careful production techniques and its faerytale subject matter opened the door for lots of new fans.

The Virgin Queen soundtrack, whilst not strictly a Baebes album, quickly cemented itself in all fans CD players, the few tracks that the Baebes contributed too were easily the best on the album.

Live was what we were all waiting for, after years of saying that the Baebes were far superior live compared to their recorded material, we were rewarded with a CD lifted from there DVD release.

After careful consideration, i've voted for Undrentide as my fave album, its a forgotton jewel, and its closest to doing what the Baebes set out to do, bring mediaevel music into the 21st century. Even the Baebes themselves seemed to have forgotten this album, as it hardly gets any performance time in their live shows.

Oh, and i think you meant to title it 'Poll' not 'Pole'!!!!

Nice break down of each album! Good post.

I agree that Undrentide doesn't seem to get it's due credit and is a forgotten jewel as you say. Averil has always been one of my favorite tracks and I'm disappointed to have not yet had the pleasure to hear it live.

Hehe, just back to it being a hard one isn't it!

I voted for the Live album, nice mix of rocking and poignant tracks. I think the tracklisting for the new album should be as lively as possible. There's a real energy to the band at the moment and I'd like that to be captured in the album. Also it would mean more dancing live and that can only be a good thing.

Very tough choice obviously, but I'd have to say Mirabilis with Undrentide a very close second.

I have "the best of Mediaeval Baebes" here.. is this not an official album?

And I love Mirabilis best, but if I were to pick some of the existing songs for the album, I'd pick Come My Sweet, Blow Northern Wind and Ah Si Mon Moi and The Work of the Lord to go on it, definately.

Not easy..................

I've gone for "Live" because of the mix of different music and the production. It also has more "atmosphere" I feel.

Mirabilis a close 2nd with Salva Nos a close 3rd....

undrentide - its so unique and shows of the strengths of voice of all the ladies in the band at the time, its sort of other worldly and yet something so familiar finds its place in my heart.

i also love the virgin queen soundtrack too !!!

Voted for Mirabilis - looking back on the entire Baebes catalogue it simply is the most well-rounded album, not only musically but also thematically, and the Baebes' vocals are at their best!
Second comes the Live album - it's such a great selection of songs plus we get two extremely gorgeous bonus tracks that it is as good as first with me...but not quite.

Everything else is on third place!! :D :D

But yes - with the new album in mind, my vote goes to a thematically, musically and vocally sound album. With the previosu albums to Mirabilis I oftimes had that some songs just didn't quite keep my attention, whilst others were hard not too miss!! Mirabilis blended all that well.

Oh - and would love another decent instrumental!! I missed that on Mirabilis!!

Love,
Phantas

I too have to vote for Undrentide. I've nearly worn it out I listen to it so much, though they are all great and just different enough to keep me wondering what's next.

Undrentide was my first Baebe album so I voted for it. I love all the albums but this one really hooked me.
