By now it is well documented that ILLUMINATION isn't my cup of tea. I have two copies of said album. One I will keep for reference the other I auction by this thread. The person who bids the highest by Midnight/UK time WED 5 Nov will receive this Ltd edition signed Cd. The winning bid/Funds will be donated to the Baebes Cancer charity to which I will also donate a further £50. The winning bid will have to pm there address to me to receive there Cd. It will be despatched as soon as the funds are received by myself. Payment by bank cheque only. Payable to Mediaeval Baebes. I will pay for SIGNED FOR/POSTAGE personally.
I'm not sure where I stand with this legally but it is for the Baebes charity.
Please enter your bid below. Bids only in UK £'s please. Si.

Simon I think its wonderful what you are doing but I really think that you would be better off putting the cd on eBay as most people on the forum will probably already have it. As the album hasnt been officially released yet would mean that people would probably bid highly for it especially as it is also signed and a Ltd edition. If you need help with Ebay drop me a pm as I sell a lot on there.
You could still give the money to the Baebes charity and offer free postage and packing. Hope this helps

How come you've got two copies of an album you're not that keen on? Just wondering. Good luck with the auction, anyway.

Dear Sparkles, thanks for the offer as you know me well and that computers aren't my strong point. But I feel it would be less complicated and more likely to go to a dedicated fan if we stick with my original idea. Thankyou for the offer shiny lady.
Dear Rada, I often have duplicates of my Baebes Cd's because I like to lend them out and spread the word. Unfortunately my hearts not in ILLUMINATION and maybe somebody else would appreciate it more.
Please somebody lets get the bidding started!! Its such a worthwhile charity and maybe a Christmas gift for someone.

I have an interest. My initial inquiry found it's nigh on impossible to issue a bank check in foreign currency from the US. Anyone have insights into how to do that??

Dear Treo
If you are the only person who shows an interest, I will send you the Cd on the understanding that you make a donation to Breast cancer research in the US. This might solve our problem. Your thoughts?
Whatever happens I will still donate as promised.

I bid £1.

While I'm on, a suggestion for Simon...

You've often claimed to have made great marketing/promotional suggestions to the Baebes' management - why not share them with fellow fans on this forum? If enough people respond along the lines of 'Good idea - I'd buy one of those' then the powers that be might take notice, & if there's no interest then no harm done.

Dear Thoskit
My suggestions are:
1, A Baebes calendar that I've suggested for the past 3 years and should sell well before Christmas. If a Ltd number are made they wouldn't be lumbered with after Christmas. The images of 6 beautiful girls are very easy to sell to fans like us, and in the gigs before Christmas would be a goer.
2, T'shirts with a group photo of the Baebes. I have made good quality T'shirts of the fire walk title page and I know that they can be made fairly cheaply.
3, We have James Suttons photo's of the girls and the Baebes biographies. The advantage of this is that when made into a booklet, they are not outdated or limited by whatever the sets may be performed on that particular day. So when sold at gigs the Baebes can sign there individual page. What a lovely souvenir. When I sold merch for the Baebes I literally had hundreds of fans asking for a programme only to disappoint them. And this happened gig after gig, cash not being made!!.
4, Get the Baebes on a TV show like Jools Holland. They have won the Ivor Novello award and no attempt has been made to cash in on this. Also I know that they have worked with the BBC and Jools Holland before and should be welcome. This is about spreading the word.
5, Listen to the fans we are the ones with the money. At least consider our ideas. I have never had a response from Baebes Management and I know that only Emily reads our forum. I have been very incensed by this as I know that some of the girls have struggled financially.

Interesting ideas that all sound financially viable in principle. I wonder whether the relatively frequent changes in line-up have put the Baebes off producing merchandise that is specific to a particular line-up, such as the group photo T-shirts & biographies booklet ideas. Obviously this wouldn't be a problem with a calendar, which is specific to a certain time anyway.

Getting the Baebes on TV would be harder. I remember when they toured with Jools Holland in '99 - it didn't seem to lead anywhere & there were aspects of the experience the girls disliked (ask Mistress Kat about the 'Ledge of Shame' & the' false beard protest' the Baebes staged...).

Well;

I'd rather donate to Pediatric Cancer Research in honor of my son if it's all the same to you.

However, you seem to have a bid. Let me see what I can dredge up for funds. Could be tight as the Revenue service has just decided I owe $800 for taxes from 2005. Death and taxes right.

Under these circumstances Treo, & in the current economic climate, with all the uncertainty of your country's election, I'd have to recommend that you hang onto your money & don't make a bid. Plus, younger members of your family wouldn't want you to squander their future inheritance. Plus, the cd Simon is auctioning is cursed - it attracts lightning bolts & what Simon hasn't let on is that he's not the first owner, previous victims of the curse having been eaten by bears or spontaneously combusted. All-in-all, not bidding any further would be a wise move...
:D

For a second I thought that I was banned from this forum but Em says it plays up sometimes, I wasn't allowed on for some reason.
I just want the Cd to go to a dedicated fan and as long as the money goes to charity I don't mind which one. (Although my fifty quid will go to the Baebes charity). Lets just try and raise some money!!!
By the way it is numbered 0635 not 0666 for the superstitious fans.

No worries on that score - I've been around so long I predate Florida Phil as a Baebes nut. I first saw the Baebes when I roadied for them (& others) at an event in 1998 & have been a fan since. I've seen them over 20 times in 6 different countries, having many adventures along the way, sometimes sleeping in the streets because I couldn't afford a hotel, & in 1999 hitched all the way from Lancashire to Devon to see them at the Eclipse concert ( a 600-mile plus round trip). Before I got quite seriously ill a few of years ago I was quite prominent on the Baebes 'scene' & earned a mention on the 'Scroll of Honour' in the cover booklet that comes with 'The Rose'. Hope that'll do as qualifying me to bid! :D

I've so far only seen them in 2 countries, Spain and England. I do hope to go to Canada next year. I've seen them at, at least 15 gigs that I can remember but I will support Emily's PYTHIA more in future aswell. I have such wonderful memories, Cy, Marie, Maxine and the present baebes, I love them all. The pleasure and joy that they put into my heart nobody will ever know. I'm also lucky that some ex baebes write to me regularly. The secrets that I could tell!!!

I've never made it across the pond. I DO recommend seeing the Baebes in Amsterdam at the same time as sampling the local culture  ...

Or should that be... :D      8) 8)
