I would think that Astral Projection fits in neatly with Resurrection, Divine Revelation & Transubstantiation.

I would think it would be frowned on by many branches of the Church.

For instance I found this quote on a Christian web-site:
Quote:
If one were to think of our fleshly body as an automobile and our spirit as the person inside it driving around, one might gain a more accurate view of astral projection. One would never drive into a known dangerous neighborhood, get out and leave the car unlocked. Yet, with astral projection, this is exactly what people attempt to do. They try to “get out” of their bodies while asleep and roam around in their spirit. All the while their body remains open and unguarded. It is theorized, in the opinion of this author, that this may be one possible way for demon possession, “prior lives”, and and/or “split personality” to occur. If one leaves their body, it is a very real possibility for another spirit to come in and occupy it as well.

And this on another:
Quote:
Have you talked to your minister about this. You will find that REAL Christians would NEVER put themselves into these meditative states. It opens the body to evil spirits.

I know how stupid that sounds. But I am just presenting Christian doctrine. Meditation, including Astral Projection is a PAGAN ritual. Your immortal soul has been tarnished!

Now I have to go and polish my immortal soul which apparently has become tarnished

A soul untarnished would lead to a very dull life!!!

But it is the burr under the saddle that throws the rider.

Well, the weekend was miraculous in many ways. Got caught on open water in my Kayak in a vicious thunder storm. There was gale wind, pelting rain and a fair number of lightning strikes in the immediate vicinity. If God had an inclination to strike me down, he missed a prime opportunity.

Yeah. I don't jive so much with the church on a number of topics, particularly not the baptist bible thumpers and puritan descendants I'm surrounded by. I got many a furrowed brow for being best man at a buddhist wedding. If having respect for the spirituality of my peaceful brothers is a sin, I'm s-c-r-e-w-e-d.

...and so I continue to grope for the narrow gate. (There's a song idea in there somewhere. "So I grope for the narrow gate, amid wide arches, lit with brilliant light and false prophets crying, 'welcome!'. Lord help me, for my eyes and ears are overwhelmed and I cannot find the narrow gate."

If you all do have a gathering, I'll be thinking of you, if you'd be kind enough to think of me, we'll all be together in as much a way as matters to me.

Consider a second candle lit, and a glass of ale raised... and since the good lord saw sense and didn't incinerate your marshmallows, then your soul surely isn't tarnished.

Well, inevitably, people around the area are already considering this to be Joust, quite a few peopl that I have spoken too either call it Joust, or ask if it is Joust.

Even our local rag has put an announcement saying that the Skirmish is not run by the company that run Joust.

Also, a few people have asked if the 'wotsit babes' are performing again, to which i've had to say, sorry no.

I really hope people aren't too disappointed by the fact that it isn't Joust, and the company running it really should ask the Baebes to perform next year, if you ask me, it was them that brought a lot of the crowd to the Joust.

I totally agree J.....ooops nearly did a reveal of your name there!

The Baebes were the only reason I kept going to Joust as to be honest seeing the siege of Berkeley and the jousting every year was a little tiresome (well for me anyway!). I'm dithering a bit about whether to bother going this weekend as I know it wont be the same without the girls and I know it will make me miserable :(

I am looking forward to the event & meeting people. OK, the Baebes will not be there so I will just have to crank up the CD player in the car on the drive there & back. Perhaps we could hijack the PA system & have our favourite tracks blasted over the Summer Meadow? For those who won't be coming along I shall be thinking of you & hope that you have a great weekend wherever you will be. I'll try & capture some images of the goings-on & will post them on Monday on FaceBook.

Lulworth Castle, Dorset has a summer programme of Jousting events which are well worth going to, should you happen to be in this neck of the woods.

Cheers, :D

Today I had a wonderful time at Berkeley Castle with my friend Pat the Photografriar. The sunshine was lovely and all of the people who wore mediaeval costumes made this an inspired day out. Please Baebes can we see you ther next year?!!!

An excellent couple of days at Berkeley Skirmish. The weather was as hot as 2006 & it was as good as Joust but minus the Baebes (of course). Who knows, perhaps next year???? :D
