Hey Baebes, Baebettes and Bloakes.

Being as i come from Gloucestershire, and only a stones throw from the prestigious Berkeley Castle, I though i'd let you in on something i discovered.

As you know, thanks to rains last year the Joust festival had to be cancelled and eventually the company went into liquidation, meaning no more Joust from The Grail Presents.

However, it seems that although Berkeley was down, it wasn't out for the count.
Another Joust type festival is to be held this year over the last weekend of July, little information is known at the moment but it seems to be running along the same vein as Joust.

Now I realise its too late this year, but maybe we could all try contacting the promoters and see if they could get the Baebes there for next year, Joust was an excellent festival that was the one thing that brought a lot of Baebes fans together, it'd be a shame if we simply let it slip away.

Please check here for more details....

Cheers

TM6S

You never know what might happen unless you ask so here goes:

Dear Baebes, Please could you have a word with Maurice & ask him if you can scamper down to Berkeley Castle in late July to have fun & frolics with TM6S, Pat the Photografriar plus loads of your adoring fans.

:D (I couln't find an emoticon with fluttering eyelashes)

Just visited the web site mentioned by TM6S, and it seems it is the Joust, but called by another name

All that would be missing is the Baebes 8)

Now it would be a mighty long drive pour moi, especially when we have a similar event down the way from us at www.bodelwyddan-castle.co.uk. However, if there were a guarantee of some Baebes, and meeting fellow forumites, and some fine ale.....Well then i'd be as 'appy as a pig in sh

So Baebes, is there an impromtu party going on?

http://www.plantagenet-events.co.uk/Events.html

this event is being run as Berkeley Skirmish by Plantagenet Events. it does seem to be an attempt to rekindle the berkeley magic - which as a re-enactor that attended this event many times will be a tall order. there was something special about Joust despite for me having many upsetting memories.

there is a lot of mixed feelings about this event in the re-enacting world - a lot of people are willing to support it and see how far it goes but on the flip side a lot of people see Joust as synonymous with a Loss of earnings and businesses

for me i think supporting this event baebes or no baebes could lead to bigger and better things next year and perhaps a return of the girls to Berkeley. and i would urge anyone that is in the area this year to go along and lend your support because without it there may not be a chance for the baebes to perform there next year! (Unfortunately my re-enactment group were already fully booked for that weekend at a show in wales :-( )

i definitely think its a WATCH THIS SPACE kind of affair

Where in Wales? As much as I would like to support the re-birth of the Joust, it may not be possible to get there this year. If there is an event closer I am all ears

Well i'll be going, it can't be any worse than the 'Siege of Berkeley Castle' event they do every year, as much as I respect the players, once you've seen 30 minutes of it, you're fit to go home, there is very little to do otherwise.

But this looks promising, a pseudo-Joust. I remember the very first Joust had very little to offer, but as time went by, it got better and better. Lets hope this one does too.

It's literally 10 mins away so it'll be a good local day out.

its in caerphilly , south wales ! its their annual big cheese event where they have a massive fair (with big wheel) outside the castle and then us re-enactors inside shooting their siege engines. not mega medieval but generally a good laugh!

Thanks for that - though I think that is almost as far as going to Berkley Castle - perhaps next year I will visit :)

Here's another link concerning the Berkeley Skirmish, this is provided by a newspaper serving the Gloucestershire area.

Looks like they really are trying to recapture The Joust.

Do you think it is possible to re-capture the Joust?

Totally, I think it's entirely possible to recapture the essence of Joust, it just won't happen with this first Skirmish.

But if it gets support, and if maybe the Baebes lend their talents to the event, I think it could possibly become Joust again, never in name, but definately in spirit.

A lot of people loved the Joust, living in the local area, it was quite often discussed and looked forward too, I would imagine people are looking for the same again.

I for one, shall be lending my support to the Skirmish.

I will just have to decide on which lovely frock to order from Dornbluth.co.uk in time for the event!

Can't wait!
