Could the Baebes consider putting Mad Song up on YouTube?

Got my DVD far across the pond today. Sat and watched a good chunk of it. I'll quote Gimli the Dwarf ( as I so often do );

" I am so caught between joy and rage that if I do not burst it will be a miracle!"

Joy :

It is well worth the wait. Both video and audio production are everything they should be to do such an event justice. Kudos for not compromising or rushing through it. The cathedral is a stunning backdrop for the Baebes. The layered vocal style of the Baebes seems to play right into the vast reverberating acoustics. It's also just opulent visual overload. It's a great treat to see so many fellow fans I've only known through electronic correspondence sitting in the front row. Adds a little bit of humanity to the relationship.

Rage :

You bastards! You frigging lucky rotten bastards! I am so insanely jealous. The "clench your fists in anger until you give up and cry" sort of jealousy. I may daydream but in truth I know I'll never get to experience a Baebes concert on their home turf in such a spectacular setting. You should all stand and sing "God Save the Queen" and count yourself blessed to have been born on the British Isles. Not only because you're part of a culture that could foster a phenomenon like the Baebes but also because it's a culture that would support the Baebes performing in a historic cathedral. I just can't envision that ever happening in the States. It really is it's own kind of maddening.

Between :

At least I get to steal away this little bit wonderfulness to my own space. In my better moments I can find the wisdom to be glad of what I do have and not dwell on what I don't. What I do have is this great little production of unique and beautiful music to enjoy at my leisure that was acquired for short money. (sigh) Another Margarita and on to set 2.

I got mine today also!! It was beautifully filmed and sung by all. Wished they had done 'I Sing of a Maiden,' but that's a minor complaint. The intros to the songs were done beautifully by all, especially Rabbitt's to "How Death Comes" and Esther's to "Suscipe Flos Florem." My favorite was "Suscipe Flos Florem." Loved the DVD extras and hearing from the band about their former lives before they became blissfully trapped in the fairy kingdom of Baebedom.

I agree with treowryhta. If only I'd been born a Brit instead of a red-neck; I could see the Baebes 3-4 times a year instead of wishing on star that, during their future American tours, they dip down somewhere close to the Carolinas. I was privileged to see them in Charlotte, NC (twice) but I don't think they'll be coming there again due to the small turnout. Although they did pretty good at the Ren Faire on pretty short notice. Asheville, NC, would a better Baebe town and maybe Atlanta.

Good to see them in such fine form on the way, according to Emily, to world domination!!

Although I was able to discern chunks of the interview and the backstage parts, could someone perhaps also transcribe those parts? Especially the backstage behind the scenes part is really hard to discern for non-native English peeps, as there is soooooo much extra noise because of the acoustics of the cathedral one can hardly hear what folks are saying LOL!

Some parts of the interview have the same problem of extra noise from outside sources (within the interview, i.e. some crying, singing, dancing, screaming etc.).

If someone could do that it would be great! :)

Love,
Phantas

It's not the background noise. It's the accent. Just watch nothing but Monty Python skits for a week. Once your ear is tuned in you'll have no problems following the DVD. :D :D :D

I agree that the DVD is excellent and the venue superb. Great job!

My first suggestion involves the camera shots. It just seems to me that there were clearly times when the camera shot should have been prolonged and included all 6 principles from either in front, or slightly above, or angled from left or right. For example, on "WOOOOO" part of Love Me Broughe and on the arm wave / hip sway parts of Desert Rose. The camera is too slow to move onto or too quick to move off the all inclusive shot of all 6 to other things. And usually that shot incuded the drummer. Now showing a drummer , at times, is a good idea for a number of reasons. The drums are sort of the heartbeat of the music and the show. Very important. Plus many people seem to have special appreciation for drums, perhaps because of the importance to the rest of the music. Also, since all 6 principles are women, its a good idea to show a male presence in there at times. And you definately want to show support musicians. They are important to the success of the show and should get some respect and 'face' time too! BUT, they are SUPPORT, NOT PRINCIPLE! Plus, even if you successfully argue that the drummer should get that amount of time, then why the timing of them? I dont know, just to me part of this groups magic is how all 6 seem to blend together and seem like a unit. There arent many solos or duets, they all are involved on almost every song. So when they do something as a group, the camera shouldnt cut away. Hope I am making some sense.

Also, it seems one theme of this group at times is nature. So, next time, how about an outdoor venue for a concert dvd? I see you all doing a GREAT job with that. I realize that such a project creates more challenges and expense. Plus success or failure is contingent on a factor you have absolutely no control over, the weather! BUt I can see an outdoor dvd called Sunrise. Starts off with that song, gets the show jumping right off the start. Then the show ends with a song called Sunset. That song would start out slow and sad, as we remember loved ones lost. Then pick up, as the lyrics would talk about how death isnt an end, but a trasnfer from physical to spiritual existance. Then the song would really pick up in tempo, have lyrics like how there is a sunrise for every sunset, a spring for every winter, kind of ideas. Such a song could be like "You Raise Me Up" has become.
