Does anyone, perhaps one of the Bæbes, have the lyrics for Miseria Nomine? I want to translate it myself, but I can't figure if it's Latin or some form of Italian. All I can make out is "Miseria nomine.... Jesu mea tormenta"

Thanks,

James

f I remember rightly, the lyrics from Miseria Nomine and random words that together are non-sensical.

I think it was Kat at the Carnglaze Caverns gig that said the songs from 'The Virgin Queen' weren't composed by them, and that Martin Phipps just strung random latin words together.

Not entirely true - the song The Virgin Queen has lines taken from a poem by Queen Elizabeth herself!

http://englishhistory.net/tudor/eliz1-writings.html

This link has some of her poetry - and the lines from the song are on there too! Easiliy recognizable!

But not too sure on the Latin though...

Miseria Nomine
Benedicta Maria (?)
...

and then some

Love,
Phantas

Or you could all buy "the collected works of Elizabeth I", it is a glorious collection from the most intellegent and brilliant woman ever to have lived!!!! I have an unhealthy obsession with that woman! It's because she was ginger and us gingers need to stick together! xxx

"Titian red" surely?
I know painters who would walk on broken glass to get a model with hair that colour!

I can make out:
miseria - unhappiness, misery (fem nom sing)
nomine - name (neut abl sing)
confit - he makes ready (3rd pres indict)
sentiam - I will hear/perceive (1st active future)
mili - mallet (gen sing)
psalta - musician, minstrel (masc nom/abl sing)
exultate ?
sentiam
done - gift, present (neut voc sing of donum)
mila de tia - ?
benedicta - blessed ones (neut pl)
scentia
delicia - sweethearts (neut nom pl)
misericordia - compassion, mercy (fem nom sing)

I'm having a hard time picking out words...anyone else have any guesses here? What's the English translation of this song? I can't pick this out of Queen Elizabeth's works. I've already searched them...

Thanks,

James

Not all the songs on the soundtrack where adapted from the works of Eliza herself, I think the "virgin queen" is the major one and even that has been changed a lot.

Great work on the lyrics mystery though x
