Yeah it starts off really calm with the one singer (Sorry im not sure of the baebes names properly yet) and builds up threw out the song.

My favourite lines are 'more of wele was in that wise, Than I couthe telle thagh I Tom hade'

I Know its a silly question but what does it mean?. i looked at the translations but couldnt make out?

This is the translation I have: 'Given all the time in the world, I could not explain all the delight I found there'

To me it means that the place was so full of delight, there isn't enough time in the world to explain/tell people about it all. Does that make sense, or am I just repeating the translation?

Thanks Annis, I started to understand it now. :D I was listeningto it tonight while on my break at work. I shut out all the vocals and listened too the instruments only. I really love the tambarine in it, and the build up of the instruments to the end like the build up in the vocals.

I do not have an opportunity to watch the Baebes live as I live in Asia but from what I gather from the online clips available, it seems that Katharine will do the lead vocal.

There was an instance when Claire would do the lead vocal in the absence of Katharine. Then it would be followed by Maple Bee, then by Marie and later joined by the rest of the Baebes. It would appear that Emily will do the higher parts toward the end. I think it's her because of her beautiful and distinctive voice.

I'm not too sure who's doing Maple and Marie's parts now.

Katharine does the lead vocal on "Pearl" now, but on the studio recording from Worldes Blysse the lead vocal was done by Karen Lupton (one of the original Baebes). She also sings lead on "Passing Thus Alone" and a few others on the earlier albums. Yes, a very lovely, calming voice.

"Pearl" has always been one of my favorite songs, along with the song that follows it, "Swete Sone", a stunning vocal by Katharine that gives me chills!

Thanks catherine for that little bit of info. The more i read info about this song the 'more and more' i love it. Karen has got a calming voice, 'Passing Thus Alone' another nice and moving song.

I love the way 'Pearl' Starts with just Karen's vocals echoeing in the background. No music. your right what a follow up, to have 'Swete Sone' straight after. again no music just vocals at the begining.

Hey has anyone seen the girl on You Tube singing 'Swete Sone'?. Not a bad effort, she sings it really well. The only problem is that the video is played sideways. You start to get fed up watching the video with your head tilted to the left

Thanks again chatherine :).

Pearl is definitely one of my favourite Baebe moments - one of my favourite tracks from what is probably still my favourite Baebes album!

I've even used it as a carrot to try and get friends into the Baebes - a bunch of us get together once a year to produce a two-disc compilation album of some of our favourite bands, the only rules being that they have to be studio recordings and that we can't re-use bands/artists for five years or so (to ensure that there's a good turnover of acts, to keep it interesting). I put Pearl on the compilation a few years ago and it was amazing (if not surprising) to see how positive the feedback was. I still firmly believe that if you sit someone suitably open-minded down with a copy of Worldes Blysse, they can't help but come away as a new Baebes fan... :D

Worldes Blysse was the first Baebes album I got, the latest release at the time, and Pearl has always stood out for me as possibly the best track on the album. The trouble is, my album's sleeve notes don't seem to have the entire lyrics in it so I've never managed to learn the words properly :(
