OK, I like the posh frocks, the close-ups, the wobbly bridge, the backdrop of St Pauls.
What I don't understand is the leaping lawyer, the prancing pugilist, the Old Woman from Steve Wright-in-the-afternoon, the Pantomime pussycat costume, the goldfish-in-a-bag & the bloke in the laundarette. Are they subtle allegories?
The music is as good as ever but the video has left me somewhat confused. :?

Since as the theme of the song is love, the wonder of love, etc, I'm guessing these oddities are present to demonstrate what can happen when love (of any kind, including acceptance) crosses boundaries of society, age, class. The miracle of love bringing people together in happiness, instead of the antagonism we have - or is currently perceived that we have now.

That's what I gathered from it. Interesting, unexpected...but very sweet now that the theme rings true for me. A very lovely message in our angsty world!

Oh, I begin to see what you mean although the allegory is still a little hazy for me. It doesn't exactly leap off the screen & make a definate statement though. I'll have another look at it.
:D

Yes, my hopes were for either an on-stage performance or a Gothic fantasy-style setting such a castle, cemetary, forest, etc. Maybe next time. I don't suppose that Songs Of The Flesh 2009 is on the cards........

If I win the lottery I will by us each one to wear at gigs and our weddings! They are something we need not only want!

Although like Pat I was hoping for something gothic I still really like the video. It reminds a little of Pom's vid. And I loved the shot of all the girls on the staircase!

Is this the Baebes took the time machine or the tardis from Doctor Who and leaped into time?

Who's mother is the old lady with the goldfish?

Who is the mysterious cat and will this become our new mascotte?

Well, it wasn't what I was expecting either, but I think it is fantastic. The Baebes all look lovely and the music is great!

I am confused about the giant cat, though. Maybe it has a secret meaning

Have to say, I have listened to Illumination over and over, and it just gets better. It is the first CD for a long time that has got me humming extracts throughout my working day (and that can get me some strange looks  )

Can't wait until 19th December and Tunbridge Wells.

I was wondering why there was so few posts on the video announcement thread. Party moved over here.

You know, I didn't even begin to try and absorb the metaphor. All I really came away with was the thoughts that;

I really do love that melody.

Emily's eyes are like the ocean, unfathomably deep and always changing color.

If you could bottle Pom's smile the world would be rid of depression in month.
