Still waiting for mine. :(

I'm also waiting for mine, even though I pre-ordered way back in March.

I love the Baebes and I've been excitedly waiting for the new record, but I've had a helluva year, which has resulted in multiple housemoves and a slightly fragile me which would look on the new Baebes album as a little ray of sunlight.
I've emailed the sales email several times because I wanted to make sure my album would go out to the right address and no one ever replies. Of course I do understand that the Baebes are super-busy and that I probably come off as a rather naggy customer, but when things are a bit gloomy in life, it's good to have little things to look forward too.

All I wanted to say is that a 2 line reply makes all the difference.....

I have lent my copy of "illumination" to my friend who has not seen the Baebes live. He did like the new cd and is really tempted to see them live in Gloucester next month.

Well Illumination is now several wweks old and I want to add a more considered opinion after the initial euphoria.
The fact is that, incredibly, the euphoria hasn't gone away. I have listened to this album 2or 3 times a day without exception and I only love it more and more. After the first few plays my only fears were that songs that were so instantly appealing would soon get boring or that the earlier albums would in comparison sound a bit flat, neither fear became reality. I still adore the other albums but this one has become one of those special works of art which for me include the poetry of Dante, the sculpture of Michelangelo and the painting of Burne-Jones. Art such as this lifts the veil of this dreary material world and takes us into a world of light, spirit and the imagination, a land, as Burne-Jones said "no-one can define, or remember, but only desire". Nothing makes me more sure that art is a holy thing and beauty is the face of god.

I didnt get to preorder Illumination as i didnt have a credit card at the time (evil things they are!) but saw the news letter about the limited Illumination still being for sale so promplty got a credit card and ordered and recieved my copy within two days (no 0976).
Well worth the wait i must say! You can hear the influence the European Mittelalter scene (bands like Qntal,Estampie,Faun,Omnia etc) has had on the girls.
I think the only misfire is the version of My Lady Sleeps, it feels rather "dry" compared to the version on the live album, and what happened to "Golden Bells" i thought that was going to end up on the album too!
Im hoping that Illumination helps the girls get another well deserved no 1 album its been too long since the last one!

Morning (or evening) all!

Just thought I'd share a cool thing that happened on the weekend..

My wife and I hosted a small neighborhood party.. There were probably 20 people in the house at any one time.. I put together a couple of "Christmasy" mixed CD's and featured the Baebes heavily on both, with several selections from Illumination..

Got several very positive comments and requests on the best place to find the music.. A couple of my guy friends were even more influenced when I showed them the CD booklet, if you know what I mean!

Always good to get positive feedback like that!

I bought my copy at the London gig on Thursday :D I absolutely LOVE I Sing Of A Maiden, Yonder Lea and Desert Rose. I've been listening to those ones so much that I haven't really been listening to the others ;) Also, the one I don't really like is Miracle, but I can't stop listening to that one either o_O Why is this? Does this sort of thing happen to anyone else?

This album has grown on me. I noticed the difference between this style and the prior albums, but it has definitely become a favorite of mine. I'm quite fond of I Sing of A Maiden, Yonder Lea, Desert Rose, and Blacksmiths. I hope you manage to make it back to Florida for another Renaissance Festival!

I still think they need to have at least ONE authentic medieval song, even their own arrangement, per album, eg Alba or L'amour de Moi!!!! It just makes all the difference. At least to someone like me who likes medievally stuff!

Tbh, i didn't know what to expect from this album. Miribilis was probably my least favourite MBs album (doesn't mean i dislike it!!), so with the whole new line up and the baebes being busy with touring and stuffs, i was fearful that this album might just end up a bit empty and lacking something... but to me pleasant suprise, i've actually really bloomin' enjoyed it. I think the new sound is really fruitful, full of colour and wicked, and i like it a lot! It sounds like they had loads of fun whilst they sang and recorded the tunes- you get a real sense of mischief from some of the songs which i find quite amusing! I'm so happy with how it's turned out! It is a very different sound to what old MBs were like though, but it still has all that charm and lovelyness, and anyway! who says being different is a bad thing?

Wooooooooooo for this album!
