Someone mentioned Lais? I loved their early work up to Douce Victime (which is my favourite album). The last album they made, with all the experimental pop rock and electronic influences was not to my taste - if you thought their voices sounded harsh early on, then the latest album is really not going to be to you liking IMHO.

I know Ygdrassil as I have a few tracks of their first album, but can't say I'm really over the moon about them - they are good singers but IMHO the sound is not my thing. A bit too basic.

I've recently heard a singer called Alela Diane - her second album is amazing!! A bit more countryfolk but she has a very warm voice and the songs have a nice timbre. It somehow made me think of Native Americans

I've got as good as all the albums by Blackmore's Night - can't really say their music is progressing anywhere...almost formulaic but I really like their more eastern magical stuff.
