I think it has to be Mirabilis.

Although I still like the songs on the other albums, M has a good collection that I feel like listening to all the time!

I love All the Albums i got ( Worldes Blysse , The Rose and Mirabilis) But my Favorite has to be Worldes Blysse, i listen to it after work most of the time and it takes me away, to the forest and countryside where i most like to be.

salva nos for its very authentic sound or undrentide for its quirky nature. i also love the live album.

the album i listen to least is the Rose. i just cant get into it. i dont think the track selection order flows very well. some excellent work though stunning vocals by all i just havent found the mood yet to sit and enjoy the whole album in one like i have with the others!!

yeah definitely get it. i love the authentic feel it has as most of the tracks have the original medieval melody. there are also some wonderful harmonies and excellent recorder work. its a very well balanced mix of music.

Thanks Monkeyhandbag. One day i will get 'Salva Nos', its going on my list of music to get for the future. if it has that original mediaeval melody then i am sure i will like it. thats why i love mediaeval music for the harmonies also when i was at school i used to play the recorder (forgotten everything though so i wont be able to play it anymore) always had a love for the recorder and flute. I am trying to build up the courage to call this music teacher that put an ad in the paper for flute lessons.

Thanks again Mnokeyhandbag. Cool Avatar by the way :D

Hi there,

I'd like to agree with Chris Monahan - sound's like we share our favourite Baebes tracks! I love 'Tam-Lin' and 'Lliannon-Shee' too. Esther's live rendition of 'Tam-Lin' is fantastic!

I was driving down a lane through a huge forest one night about midnight when 'Blow Northern Wind' came on my CD player - I slowed the car down (no-one around) and crawled along, the haunting refrain began and suddenly a herd of deer crossed the road right in from of me - time there stood still for a moment & whenever I play 'Blow Northern Wind' I always think of that time.

ps - has anyone played 'Blow Northern Wind' in total darkness with the volume high? it sends shivers down your spine!

Blessings, Hawthorn.

Well I'm sure it doesn't make you shiver as much as listening to Tam Lin on quite a high volume on Hallow'een. Before then I hadn't really understand the words but after that experiance, you understand just fine! I was wide awake for that witching hour, nothing was sneaking up on me! It's a very spooky song, beautifully sung (Marie did a great job) Gives me chills.

go for it. i played violin in school and sort of lost track with it until i left and now i have so many instruments. i have 2 rebecs, 1 medieval fiddle , a few recorders a plucked psaltery and my modern violin and a few tamborines.

i have a really musical family with a very laid back attitude and we love nothing better than having a bit of an impromptu jam!! just yesterday i was learning to play electric bass guitar from my brother.

thanks for your comment about my avatar. its from the lutterell psalter (14th Century) i have a weakness for medieval things. which is probably why ive found myself in a medieval re-enactment living history group for the past 7 years!!

Woah, you had quite an expieiance there hawthorn. I would like to try that, listen to 'blow norhtern wind' in total darkness.

I have to join Stargazer, i once listened to 'Tam Lin in full volume with the lights out. I tell you it does send you shivering and enchanted. It truely is a spooky song. 'Lliannon-Shee' is another good one in the dark. I know it might not be a spooky song but 'Passing Thus Alone' would be good, coz she is singing about being alone, also there is no music in it, just vocals.

Thanks Monkeyhandbag, i will be making the phone call sometime soon, im worried because i dont have a clue. Still can only try. I think its cool that you are in a medieval re-enactment living history group. If only there was such a thing out here. For as long as i can remember i have always been drawn to anything that is mediaeval!! I will be checking lutterell psalter out, Its new to me. I have ordered this book from the book shop 'discover early music' by Naxos. But still no word from the shop. just be patient i suppose.

Thanks again.

No favourites, love 'em all. Best way of listening is through headphones in the dark, maybe a candle or two flickering away, joss sticks scenting the atmosphere & just allowing the music to soak in slowly. The temptation to hit "loop" just gets stronger.
